The old Gazette-Times printing
press

1912- Shortly after consolidation of Heppner Gazette and Heppner
Times. Vawter Crawford, proprietor and publisher, son Spencer
in charge of the printing department, and daughters Janet, operator
of typesetting Machine in lower corner, are standing behind the
veteran Campbell Press upon which the paper was printed. The
plant and office was in the old Times building on upper Main
Street and the building was destroyed in the fire of 1918, which
burned out a large part of the business section including the
famed Palace Hotel. A short time before the fire the G-T had
moved into a new brick building on Willow Street where the paper
now makes its home. The newspaper was started in 1883 and is
the oldest continuous business in Morrow County.
