HEPPNER LIONS

 ACTIVITIES

The Heppner Lions Club serves Morrow County and the community of Heppner in anyway that is needed. We provide exams and eyeglasses for anyone temporarily in need, for people with problems that can't be handled with local resourses we refer to the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation. We are presently working on projects to build walkways up and down the hills on both sides of towns to make it safer for School Children to walk to school without having to walk in the road. We also sponsor a minimum of 1 sometimes 2 scholarships a year for a graduating Heppner High School Senior to attend the college or advanced training of their choice. We also sponsor every spring a youth fishing tournament at Willow Springs Dam for the youth of the Community. We also assist in sponsoring The Lions-Quest Positive Youth Development Program in schools in the county and the rest of Eastern Oregon

For fundraisers the Heppner Lions Club every spring holds an annual Ruger Rifle Raffle. We sell the tickets for 5 dollar apiece and limit the number of tickets to 300. Contact Steve Rhea or Jim Wishart for tickets. We also every 4th of July Hold our annual fireworks sale in Heppner. In the Fall of the year we hold a fruit sale to the members of the community. We also annually in conjunction with the Heppner Football team hold our annual creek cleaning to help reduce the chances of flooding in Willow Creek and earn money from the flood control district. These funds go mainly to support the Football program at the high school. All other funds go to support our community activities and the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation and Lions Club International Foundation and their Sight First Projects.
